The Meraki string quartet, formed at the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music 'Victoria Eugenia' in Granada, performs 'Landscapes of America' on Friday, October 23 at 8:00 pm at the José Luis García Palacios Cultural Center of the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation. A program crossing the Atlantic
Landscapes of America brings together music born in or inspired by the American continent. The program includes works by Argentine composer Claudia Montero, including her 'Buenos Aires Quartet'; Dvořák's 'American Quartet' written during his stay in the United States; Piazzolla's 'Libertango' and the tango 'Por una Cabeza' by Carlos Gardel, arranged by Irina Lazaryeva. A journey from Central European tradition to Buenos Aires tango without leaving the string quartet.
Who is the Meraki Quartet
Meraki was formed at the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music 'Victoria Eugenia' in Granada and is composed of Izan Dris Almazán and Blanca González Escabia on violins, Ana Cecilia Gavilán Moya on viola, and Lucía Sánchez Herrerías on cello. Its members combine studies with professional projects, chamber music encounters, and orchestral work, having performed repertoire by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvořák, and Montero. They have performed, among others, with the Granada City Council and the AguaGranada Foundation.
Tickets, schedule and charity cause
The concert takes place on Friday, October 23 at 8:00 pm at the José Luis García Palacios Cultural Center of the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation, located at Calle de la Radio 1, with entrance via Avenida de la Libertad. Tickets cost €5 and are available from Tuesday, October 13 at Tararea Musical Laboratory (Calle Isla de Hierro 14), Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on the day of the concert at the cultural center from 7:00 pm. Payment is cash only and proceeds benefit the Madre Coraje Foundation.
