About the event
The summer series of the Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat al-Zahra, with four nights of music and dance from the medieval, European and Eastern traditions, in front of the Edificio Basilical Superior. It is free with advance registration. The sixth edition was held from 5 to 8 August 2026 and the fifth, also in early August, in 2025. The dates of the seventh have not yet been announced.

What it is / What you will see
Algarabía. Escénica Medieval brings to the stage at Madinat al-Zahra the cultural diversity of 10th-century Córdoba and its ties with North Africa, the Middle East, Byzantium and Latin Europe. Each night there is a different show of music, dance or theatre inspired by medieval courts, squares and inns. In 2026 the performers were Artefactum, with European music from the 12th to the 14th centuries played on replicas of historical instruments; Umayya, with Sufi chant and tanoura dance; the band of the Syrian-Armenian Ibrahim Keivo, with music from Mesopotamia; and Layali/Amanés, who brought the Andalusi tradition together with Greek rebetiko. Seeing these shows at night among the caliphal ruins is a very special experience.
Getting there and tickets
The shows are at 10 pm in the square in front of the Edificio Basilical Superior of the Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat al-Zahra, on the Palma del Río road, km 5.5, on the outskirts of Córdoba. Entry is free, but you have to book beforehand on the Junta de Andalucía's platform. In 2026 bookings opened on 20 July, were individual, and capacity was 250 people per night. It is organised by the Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat al-Zahra, part of the Consejería de Cultura. The 2027 dates are yet to be confirmed.
