About the event
A fair devoted to the fresh extra virgin olive oil of Nueva Carteya, a municipality whose land is given over entirely to olive groves. It includes guided olive oil tastings, a Montilla-Moriles wine tasting, a chess tournament, olive oil tourism visits, hiking, workshops, concerts and tastings of local produce. Dates yet to be announced: the 11th edition ran from 3 to 7 December 2025.

What it is
Oleo Carteya is the fair with which Nueva Carteya shows off its main economic resource: the extra virgin olive oil from its traditional olive groves, which cover the entire municipality. It coincides with the first pressing and revolves around fresh oil. At the last edition there were guided tastings of extra virgin olive oil at the fair itself and in secondary and primary schools, a Montilla-Moriles wine tasting at the Biblioteca Municipal, the Oleo Carteya chess tournament, guided olive oil tourism visits to towns in the province, hiking routes, craft workshops, children's activities, concerts and tastings of local produce. The 2026 edition does not yet have dates announced.
Getting there
Nueva Carteya is in the Córdoba countryside, about 50 kilometres from the provincial capital in the direction of the Subbética. In 2025 the fair was held from 3 to 7 December, around the Constitution Day long weekend; the 2026 dates are to be confirmed. It is organised by Nueva Carteya town council with the backing of the Diputación de Córdoba through its Sabor a Córdoba brand. The published information gives no prices, so it is worth checking the official programme when it is presented.
