What it is and what you will see
The Los Alemanes route tells the origins of San Sebastián de los Ballesteros, one of the villages of Charles III's Nuevas Poblaciones. Between 1767 and 1771 the Bavarian officer Johann Kaspar von Thürriegel brought more than 7,300 German, French and Swiss settlers, and in 1768 some 57 families arrived here and shared out the plots of land. The route starts at one of the five original wells, the Pozo del Agua Buena, and crosses the Ballesteros stream through rolling farmland. It is an easy walk that the Diputación rounds off with a visit to the Molino del Rey and La Tahona, as part of its free environmental education campaign.
