What you will hear
The fifth subscription programme revolves around nature and nostalgia. It begins with the overture to Oberon by Carl Maria von Weber and continues with the Rhapsody-Concerto for viola and orchestra by Bohuslav Martinů, written during his American exile with the longing for Bohemia very much present; it is the first time the Orquesta de Córdoba has played it. The soloist is the violist Sara Ferrández. The second half is devoted to Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 8, which the composer wrote at his country house in Vysoká and into which birdsong finds its way. Julio García Vico takes the podium as guest conductor.
